"Psychotherapy: A Journey of Self-Discovery"
"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life.." Carl Jung
Psychotherapy is the process between the client and the therapist purely for the psychological and emotional wellbeing of the client. The work is about the connection within the therapeutic relationship, where unconsciousness becomes conscious, depending on the skill of the therapist. The therapist is there for the client - not for themself. This is why psychotherapy cannot be compared with talking to a friend or family member. The therapist defines the structure of therapy and holds a clear, safe, neutral, compassionate and alive space for the client to process old patterns and attachment wounds that are replicated over and over and within every area of their life. The trust that develops within the therapeutic relationship, often becomes one of restoration of past damaged attachment relationships, hence the significant depth and healing within the process of the work.
We live in a complex relational world where our relationship with ourselves and significant others, dominates our minds. Our ability to feel safe, to have success, to feel loved and have our needs met, and to feel emotional stability and well-being - fundamentally arrives through healthy relationships. Paradoxically, we often spend our time side-stepping the needs and problems within these important relationships. Why do we do this? Well, this is where the work begins! By slowly and compassionately taking the time for you to unpack YOUR world, we can begin to make sense of the narratives, patterns, and traumas that have a way of creating stuckness.
